Brothers, Rob and John O’Rourke founded RJO in 1993. They brought to the business a commitment to quality and a combined 55 years of experience in inspection and procurement of California soft fruit. Although in the beginning, RJO focused on west coast fruit, they quickly realized the importance of looking at the business as a year around Summer Fruit Category. This brought them into year around sourcing and category management support. Since its inception, RJO has been recognized nationally for its excellent service and high quality standards.
John O’Rourke, raised in the San Joaquin Valley he has over 25 years’ experience in the procurement, inspection, and sales of commodities harvested in the major California/Arizona growing regions as well as Chilean imports. He is well respected in the industry and has long established relationships with the supplier community. John maintains a strong relationship with Fresno State University providing ag business students the opportunity gain real life experience through the company’s Bird Dog Program.
Rob O’Rourke, has over 30 years experience in procurement, inspection, and sales & marketing in all major produce categories. He gained significant category management experience by working with The Partnering Group, Willard Bishop and The Perishables Group. Prior to rejoining RJO in 2007, Rob spent three years as VP of Produce/Floral for Topco Associates - a multi-billion dollar grocery co-op servicing 54 retail members throughout the country.
